Ms. Jen's Tidbits for Wed. 09.25.24
by Jenifer Hanen, aka Ms. Jen
Hello Lovely Wednesday Readers!
Today will truly be a set of Tidbits. I woke up yesterday morning, a Tuesday amongst other Tuesdays, with a whole essay in my mind with a plethora of words about how everything now is hard, tiresome, and expensive. We all know this to our very bones, so you don't need me ranting about domain registrars, hosting, and simple 301 redirects costing too much money vs. just working. No, not at all.
I don't need to wave my arms around, physical or virtual, as I rant and you all don't need to read it. No, not at all. So, there it is - two small referential meta paragraphs on my rant.
TDLR; Long live the Open Web, may we all prevail over the current lenocracy.
That being said, have some awesome links to read over the weekend:
The Unraveling of Space-Time : A series of articles & videos on the current state of physics of time and space.
Haunted by a Secret War : An essay plus a short story on going to Laos after the Vietnam war, not just the Lao dead are hungry ghosts but also the American dead.
The data on extreme human aging is rotten inside out : The Mediterranean diet may have been a pension scan or how to win an Ig Noble Prize
Now here are a few photos from last Thursday's rather awesome weather day - fog in then morning and a Thunder Snow Cell in the afternoon. It was 75F before I drove under the Thunder Snow Cell, and it was 38F as I drove through the snow, and it was again 67F after I got out from under the Thunder Snow Cell. The weather, the sky, and the world can be rather amazing.
Sorry to be so short this week, but I am a bit burned out from book stuffs and I would rather be short but sweet than annoying.
I hope all is well and thank you for reading and sharing this post / substack.
